606 INTERNATIONAL SHRIMP PROCUREMENT- California

SUMMARY

Facilitates the purchasing, movement and monitoring of Indian, Asian, and Latin American (non-Mexican) seafood products into the US. Manage the internal accounting & warehouse inventorying for Client and the supplier. Oversee all FDA requirements for the importation of seafood. Manage the abalone sales and marketing, including directing and evaluating selling agents and partners. Coordinate the transportation and deliveries of non-Mexican seafood products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinate purchases of all non-Mexican seafood purchases

     

  • Coordinates with the Distribution Department for the importation of product from suppliers to facilitate the sales process and ensuring all required documentation are completed. 
  • Verifies amount of payment to suppliers and requests required documents from various departments for the release of payment via check request, T.T., wire transfer or Letter of Credit.
  • Follows up with suppliers regarding the status of shipment ie. Over/short shipment, Federal Drug and Administration status and payment.
  • Comprehends the different international trade terminology of procurement such as CNF; CIF; DDP; FOB.
  • Point of contact for international suppliers, providing product information, shipping details and banking procedures.  Responds to telephone, calls, faxes, email etc.
  • Communicates complaints or rejection of product from customers to suppliers.
  • Drafts supplier contracts which need to be reviewed by CFO and National Sales Director.
  • Oversees that private label packaging artwork is consistent throughout the supply channel.
  • Coordinates with IT & accounting in the setup of new items #, UPC # and traceability sticker information along with all the GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network) product/packaging specifications.
  • Development of product specification of all Non-Mexican products procured by Client.
  • Coordinates with accounting/distribution on the entry of Non-Mexican and Mexican Calmex inventory into computer system and tracks Non-Mexican inventory.  Investigates and resolves negative balance inventory.
  • Liaison between Distribution, Accounting, Supplier Accounting and Operations for communication with suppliers/customers in regards to product availability, shipping of product and supplier statements.

     

  • Directs and educates co-workers in the distribution, accounting, and finance department about non-Mexican seafood.

     

  • Maintains price changes in computer system for all abalone items.  Keeps track of detained & in-transit purchases to facilitate immediate sales as well as making sure it is entered into our system.
  • Manage distribution and sales of all abalone purchases to authorized agents
  • Travel to Asia and Latin America to develop relationships with foreign sellers

     

    OTHER DUTIES

  • Manage all trade shows and industry events associated with non-Mexican seafood

     

  • Other duties as assigned by management

     

     

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have strong international relationships within the seafood industry
  • Must have 10+ years of experience in the seafood sales industry
  • Must be able to multi task and detailed oriented.
  • Develop an environment that fosters teamwork. 
  • Must be able to cope with stress and conflict within designated deadlines. 
  • Understand the importance of and have the ability to gather and analyze data and problem solve. 
  • Ability to weigh alternatives and make timely and effective decisions. 
  • Ability to positively interface with people from a variety of cultures. 
  • Intermediate software skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree with at least ten (10) years of related experience with a minimum of five (5) in international seafood sales and procurement.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be able to do the following conversions-

pounds into kilos; foreign currency into US dollars and pounds to cases and vice versa.

Have the ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions; percentages; ratios and proportions into practical situations.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Excellent verbal skills and have the ability to prepare written information that is clear, concise and in accordance with specific requirements.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and/or mouse; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.  Employee will be in and out of the office occasionally meeting with suppliers/customers. Travel requirement of 25%

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 The environment is an office setting and the noise level is usually moderate.
