Regional Business Development Manager; Mid-Atlantic/NE Territory/Chilled and Frozen Seafood

Successful seafood product manufacturer seeking Regional Business Development Manager to build and maintain relationships with current and future customers & brokers in order to create profit by selling company’s products in retail, food service and food processors.

Qualifications necessary to be successful in this role are:

  • Proven ability to grow sales year over year, setting overall monthly, quarterly and annual sales development targets
  • Be teamwork-oriented
  • Working knowledge of promotion in the food industry
  • Working knowledge of the region, it’s potential customers and market situation
  • Able to read financial reports and work with Excel and Outlook
  • Able to accommodate overnight travel
  • Business acumen; ability to see the big picture; develop, manage and deliver sales budget


Additional Job Requirements:

  • Build good relationships customer buyers and other staff
  • Utilize existing contacts in the seafood industry to secure sales
  • Increase percentage of large regional customers and major distribution customers
  • Customer retention
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans, employing proactive sales and marketing methods to generate leads and achieve growth objectives for both existing accounts and new opportunities.
  • Work with leadership on pricing and promotional programs for new customers
  • Work within the parameters of production requirements for making samples, ordering, etc. to ensure successful flow of the process
  • Conduct or supervise store visits to monitor product display & promotion
  • Grow region’s value, sales and net profits annually.  Minimum three new customers per year and total sales equal to three times salary plus expenses
  • Communicate and cooperate with all departments as a team player to accomplish shared company goals
  • Coordinate purchase orders, shipments & promotions with brokers and/or buyers; submit reports to National Business Development Manager on time
  • Facilitate communication with customers about food safety issues such as ingredient statement & allergens
  • Keep detailed records of all customer interactions and history
