653 GAA Market Development Director – North America

Reporting to the Vice President of BAP Business Development, the role will responsible for working with Retailers, Food Service operators, and suppliers to generate support, acceptance and endorsement of Best Aquaculture Practices and Global Aquaculture Alliance practices within the North American Commercial Marketplace. The key objective is growing 2-4 star Best Aquaculture Certified products in the marketplace by performing the following duties.

The seafood professional we seek should have at least 10+ years of Seafood sales experience.   They should have strong contacts within the Food Service, Retail and supplier communities. They should be a member of NFI or other seafood related organizations and have experience managing relationships with major retailers and food service operators / national accounts. Throughout their career, their actions should have demonstrated a passion and or commitment to the principle of sustainability and the mission of the Global Aquaculture Alliance.  Required skills would include top notch problem solving and presentation acumen, and excellent follow up and follow through. 

This individual would ideally be based out of GAA’s headquarters in Portsmouth New Hampshire.  Candidates who have demonstrated an ability to succeed from a remote office location will be considered, but they will be at a disadvantage in this selection process.  The right candidate might be allowed the opportunity to work remotely, but the preference is clearly for them to be based in Portsmouth NH (a state with no income tax)

A compensation structure with a base salary, performance incentives, and solid benefits package will be provided, and some relocation assistance will also be offered.

Responsible for developing a team that consistently engages key Marketplace endorsers; which includes retailers, Food Service operators, chains, broad liners, suppliers & importers to both support and promote BAP.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Engages marketplace Endorsers & Suppliers / Importers to participate in the BAP Supply Chain Transparency Process. This process evaluates the supply chain for BAP capacity at the facility level.
  • Is the BAP conduit for internal endorser / Supplier support; i.e. Marketing, Program integrity and facility management.
  •  In charge of building short and long term strategic planning for both the business and customer base
  • Acts as market development team ambassador and facilitates communications between remote market development team and Portsmouth team. 
  • Creates and maintains a list of appropriate new opportunities to be reviewed with manager monthly. Creates and maintains a list of ongoing retail and food service customers in the market place.
  •  Engages with Best Aquaculture Practices Certification team where duties overlap, i.e. tracking and supporting progress of facility certification. *
  •  Works closely with Best Aquaculture Practices New Certification team, while leveraging buyers to drive support of BAP program, i.e. connecting bookends of marketplace and aquaculture facilities. *
  • Attends trade shows.
  • Travels to ensure maximum market coverage goal of up to 50%
