672 Seafood Sales Representative- North East

Seafood Sales Representative

Our client is headquartered in Halifax N.S. and is one of the Top 25 Seafood Suppliers in North America as reported by Seafoodsource.com. The Company sources a wide range of seafood species including, but not limited to, Snow Crab, Lobster, Scallops, Shrimp, Ocean Perch, Halibut, and Cod from Europe, Asia, Central & South America, US and Canada for distribution to a customer base in North America and selected export markets. They are a privately-owned business with a strong family culture.

Reporting to the President/Sales Director, this position will be a key part of our sales team and be responsible for growth and development with our USA and Canadian key accounts. This position has the flexibility of being located in either our Halifax Nova Scotia or Essex Massachusetts offices.

Responsibilities

Overall responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work closely with the Sales Director to provide service to key accounts including food service distributors, restaurant chains, seafood wholesalers and retailers
  • Identify sales prospects / leads and develop a sales funnel which includes key contacts, estimates of potential sales and timelines for securing the business opportunities
  • Develop and execute individual account sales plans to expand opportunities with existing customers and secure new customers.
  • Present new and existing seafood products to current and potential clients
  • Work with customers to understand their business and needs through regular contact
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge
  • Identify and resolve client concerns through regular contact, quality checks and follow up
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Conduct market research and trends to find out consumer demand, potential sales and competition
  • Some international travel required
  • Set and achieve monthly and annual targets and objectives

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a positive attitude who enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment. The person possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in the sale of seafood products
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
  • Extensive knowledge in frozen seafood products and industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate, influence and make effective presentations
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Team player who will work collaboratively with purchasing, sales, supply chain, and finance staff
  • Fluency in Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish and/or French an asset
  • Effective time management, planning and execution skills
