Founded in 2011, our client is a leader for the America’s in the frozen and refrigerated meat trading industry, focusing on Pork, Beef, Poultry, and Vegetables.

Their offices, customers, and vendors are located around the region and the globe, including 20 countries they sell to and 10 countries they currently buy from.

Position Summary

They are looking for a highly driven, and motivated individual with a passion for the seafood industry.  This position will be responsible for developing the company’s diversification process into the seafood industry.

This person will be the leader of these efforts and will have to reach out and help them create partnerships with vendors around the globe to get offers, and secure products to satisfy their customer needs in the regions they tend to in Mexico, Latin America, Caribbean, and North America (USA & Canada).

The seafood buyer must interact with their traders daily to make sure they are presenting their customers with seafood products and offers, as well as seafood industry trends and relevant market related information required to satisfy their needs.

Key Accountabilities

·         Responsible for developing and managing portfolio of suppliers from around the world including US, China, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and South America among other regions.

·         Responsible to execute on purchasing from vendors and configuring sales to trading team.

·         Consult with suppliers to secure products and/or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

·         Ensure daily analysis of trends and data.

·         Work closely with the trade team to gain incremental business opportunities across all trade channels.

·         Develop and execute sales goals as per the company’s standards and requirements.

·         Be a leader in training sales teams and customers on products, varieties, specifications, seasonality’s, and uses of products.

·         Serve as an advisor to both customers and their sales team to capitalize on market opportunities and trends.

·         Travel to visit vendors and to review new opportunities.  Represent company at trade shows and events.

 

 

Required Experience and Skills

·         Minimum of 5 years of experience of procurement and sourcing in within frozen seafood industry from across the world, preferably with seafood importers, and/or seafood distributors in the US, and/or Latam region.

·         Experience in sourcing for customers in North America (US & Canada), Mexico, Latin America, and Caribbean regions a must.

·         Sound knowledge of vendors and markets in Asia (China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, the Philippines), USA, and South America (Ecuador, Peru, & Chile).

·         Experienced in dealing with various seafood species including Tilapia, Swai (Basa), Shrimp (Raw & Cooked), Mahi Mahi, Pollock, Salmon, Tuna, Squid & Octopus among others.

·         Transferable portfolio of business is essential.

·         Highly organized and detailed oriented, with strong focus on accuracy, while quick to learn.

·         Excellent negotiation, oral, written communication skills.

·         Enjoys helping and interacting with other people.  Always friendly & courteous.

·         Capable of working under pressure.  Must be able to demonstrate excellent judgment and discretion in handling difficult situations.

·         Strong work ethics and a natural team player and leader willing to help others succeed.

·         Excited about enhancing its performance by leveraging the use of technology and our database to support and increase sales.

·         Bilingual Spanish & English.  Portuguese a plus.
